All-State Jazz Choir
The MSVMA All-State Jazz Choir will contain up to 20 singers, who will have a day sectional on Dec. 2, followed by two days of rehearsal at the Michigan Music Conference (Jan 25-26). This will culminate in a performance at the Specialized Choral Hour at the J.W. Marriott Ballroom on Friday evening, Jan 26. They will rehearse and perform on a sound system and with a professional rhythm section.
Our conductor for the inaugural MSVMA All-State Jazz Choir is Greg Jasperse, professor of vocal jazz at Western Michigan University and director of Gold Company. He has conducted more than ten all-state jazz choirs and is in demand worldwide for his expertise.
MSVMA welcomes high school students to participate in its All-State Jazz Honors Choir program. Participants must be enrolled and in good standing in their school's vocal music program. Their school must be a member of MSVMA.
