    Job Posting Vocal Music Director - Tecumseh High School Internal & External Candidates Accepted Application Deadline: May 5, 2017 Location: Tecumseh High School Immediate Supervisor: Building Principal 

    Required Qualifications: 

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, Michigan teaching certificate with Music Education (JX) required.
    • Demonstrated skills in the use of technology. Ability to manage and modify schedules to accommodate needs of the student and/or the building.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Flexibility and adaptability are expected in working in the classroom and with other staff.
    • Knowledge of the academic, social, and emotional needs of the high school age student is expected.
    • A strong commitment to developing positive relationships with students and parents is required.
    • Experience teaching high school choir highly preferred.

     General Duties:
    • The teacher must be willing to participate actively in the delivery of the 9-12 music curriculum. The high school choir program includes five curricular ensembles: o Men’s Choir – tenors and basses participating in high school choir for the first time o Treble Choir – sopranos and altos participating in high school choir for the first time o Chorale – intermediate ensemble (SSA or SATB) o Women’s Chamber Ensemble – Auditioned SSAA o Chamber Singers – Auditioned SATB
    • Classroom accompanist provided 20hrs/week for rehearsals, sectionals, and concerts
    • Working closely with the middle school choir teacher and teaming all concerts.
    • The teacher is required to be a team member working cooperatively to improve teaching techniques, relations with the community, and school environment.
    • The teacher is expected to be involved in sponsoring, overseeing, coaching, or supervising extra-curricular activities.
