The Detroit Children’s Choir (DCC) is seeking additional qualified music educators to serve as part-time Accompanists for our In-School choir programs.

The In-School program serves as the foundation of the mission of our organization. The Detroit Children’s Choir goes inside different schools in order to prepare students for performances and teach them the fundamentals of music education. Excellence in healthy vocal technique, music literacy through a Kodály-inspired curriculum, and choral part-singing skills all provide the context for learning in these ensembles for the beginner choral student, Grades 3 - 8.

Accompanists assist with the running of the in-school rehearsals by playing the accompaniment / vocal parts and team teaching as needed with each director. Accompanists report directly to the Artistic Manager.

Professional development and seasonal performances (as scheduled) are required attendance. Flexible scheduling, including Saturday programs, is available.

    Qualifications:
    -Bachelor's degree
    – Required (Bachelor of Music and K-12 Teaching certification or Kodaly certification - Preferred)
    -Piano proficiency
    - Required -Availability during the school day
-Successful experience with working in inner city/urban/Title 1 school environments
-Caring, positive and consistent classroom management skills
    -Access to reliable transportation
    -Internet and word processing

All interested candidates should send their resume and cover letter to the Artistic Manager, Eric Taylor, at etaylor@detroitchildrenschoir.org.
