    POSITION: High School Choir/Asst. Band Director 

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: INTERNAL/EXTERNAL 1. Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution. 2. Must possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in the appropriate subject matter. 

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Prior experience teaching Middle/High School level choral music. 2. Prior experience teaching Middle/High School Level Instrumental Music including Marching Band. 3. Ability to recruit, motivate, and retain current and future chair and band students. 4. Willingness to work directly with elementary and middle school level music directors. 5. Regular and consistent attendance is critical for during school and after school choir and band activities. 6. Experience and/or willingness to attend MSVMA and/or MSBOA festival and solo and ensemble festival. 7. Singing experience as a soloist and chorus member. 8. Experience directing a variety of choral ensembles, such as con certs, show, madrigal, and jazz choirs. 9. Piano proficiency. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provide daily sequential instruction in choral music. 2. Provide daily sequential instruction for all band instruments. 3. Familiar with current band methods and rehearsal techniques. 4. Maintain and distribute school music, and uniforms. 5. Familiar with High School level Repertoire. 6. Understanding of all brass, woodwind, and percussion techniques. 7. Understanding of Marching Band instructional techniques. 8. Possess high level of organization skills and leadership qualities. 9. Willingness to work closely with parent boosters. 10. Regular communications with parents and Middle School Directors. 11. Maintain classroom environment and supervise students during class and other band activities. 12. Maintain communications with parents and students through district approved communication channels (MiStar, e-mail, etc...). 13. Report any conflicts of difficulties with students for referral to other services. 14. Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal or designee. 15. Direct summer marching band rehearsals and a week-long overnight marching band camp 16. Attend all marching band season home football games and weekend competitions. In addition, marching band also plays at many home basketball games and other off site performances throughout the year.
