    Director of Music Position Trinity Lutheran Church of Ann Arbor Trinity Lutheran Church of Ann Arbor, Michigan seeks a Director of Music to join its ministry team starting no later than Sept. 1, 2017. This is a part-time position for 15-20 hours a week. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or more in music, a diverse background in church music styles, and the ability to conduct various musical ensembles. The position requires someone who has a heart for God, a deep appreciation for liturgical worship and passion to engage communities in music that moves the soul. Our congregation engages youth and adults in vocal choirs, handbell/handchime choirs and playing a variety of acoustic instruments (flute, violin, woodwinds, drums and guitar). Twice annually, a festival choir forms to learn and present a larger choral work in worship (e.g., a cantata or hymn festival). Two worship services are held each weekend (schedule varies between school year and summer) which vary in style from traditional with organ to a contemporary blended worship. Beginning in September, the congregation will explore a variety of musical styles for its 11 am contemporary or alternative service, with the aim of identifying music that both resonates with worshippers and relates well to context and culture. Music interns from local universities will provide support in this Sept. - May project. The Director of Music conducts the Sanctuary (Adult) Choir, Bell Choir, leads children’s music (currently handchimes and sometimes vocal with or without Orff instruments). S/he may also lead the singers and instrumentalists at the 11 am service or may supervise a separate staff person to fill that role. The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. The Director of Music meets quarterly with other staff and members to coordinate music for worship. The deadline for applications is July 31, 2017.
