    Required Qualifications: - Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, Major in Music, Valid Michigan teaching certificate with JX or JQ endorsement - Teacher will also direct a 5-6, extra-curricular, after school choir - Proficient piano skills. Traditionally, a pianist has accompanied the choir at concerts, but the teacher must be able to play for grade school concerts, choir rehearsals, the occasional school assembly (usually simple songs) and in the classroom. - Basic knowledge of vocal pedagogy Job duties include, but are not limited to: - Classroom teaching of weekly music classes for all K-6th grade classes - Directing the 5-6th grade, extra-curricular, after school choir, Knights in Harmony. This includes selecting quality repertoire, developing a schedule of rehearsals, performances, and a few Masses, directing rehearsals, teaching basic vocal pedagogy, conducting concerts, communicating with parents, etc. - Position could potentially include pre-school music, if candidate indicates interest - Yearly 1/2 Christmas and 4/5 Spring concerts - Knights in Harmony concerts, schedule created at teacher's discretion - Assess and document student growth three times/year. Goals determined by teacher. - Assess and document student behavior and participation on four report cards/year. - Maintain weekly lesson plans and monthly curriculum maps - Participate in school wide professional development, Open House, Conferences, Showcase Night, etc. - Willingness to collaborate with the MS/HS vocal music director - Cultivate relationships with students, families, and staff - Energy and passion to provide students with a creative, engaging, evolving elementary music experience Please submit resume, cover letter, current teaching certifications and three letters of recommendation to Kathleen Fotiu, Principal fotiu@shrineschools.com
