The Music Center of South Central Michigan is hiring directors for the Battle Creek Boychoir and the Battle Creek Girls Chorus. These two ensembles have a strong history in Calhoun County and consist of young people who love to sing and want to go the extra mile in their musical development. The director of these groups has the opportunity to help these talented young musicians achieve their musical goals while creating a strong personal bond amongst their peers.

The Battle Creek Girls Chorus and Battle Creek Boychoir both rehearse on Monday evenings from September through May between 5:00 pm and 8:30 pm.

The Battle Creek Girls Chorus Director and the Battle Creek Boychoir Director shall assume all responsibilities related to the artistic direction of the ensembles including, but not limited to program design, selection of music, recruiting, auditioning and selecting singers, scheduling and conducting all rehearsals and performances, and working with Staff Accompanist and other artistic personnel. The director upholds the organization’s artistic integrity and demonstrates mastery of diverse musical styles and repertoire for young voices while fostering self-confidence, teamwork, a love for music, and a passion for artistic excellence.

The Battle Creek Boychoir Director and the Battle Creek Girls Chorus Director reports directly to the Artistic Director, supervises Interns and Volunteers and works closely with the BCGC Administrator and Staff Accompanist. The Battle Creek Boychoir and the Battle Creek Girls Chorus are part of The Music Center. In addition to artistic staff, the Director receives support from the BCGC administrator, a bookkeeper, registrar, box office manager, grant writer, and marketing director. The Girls Chorus Parent Alliance assists with fundraising and touring as well.

Currently, because of scheduling, these two positions will need to be held by two different individuals. However, if the right candidate is available, it is possible that the schedule could be changed.

To apply, please submit cover letter, resume, and recommendations to No phone calls, please.
