    Reports To

    The organist/pianist will report to the Pastor/Head of Staff.

    Job Overview

    Music is a particular gift God has given for the building up of the church of Jesus Christ,

    demonstrating an amazing versatility in the way it aids in the worship and witness of God’s

    people. This position is necessary to best support the congregation in its worship and witness,

    and to give fuller expression to the lives and prayers of the people of God. The Organist/Pianist

    is a vital part of the staff of the church, working collaboratively, cooperatively, and primarily

    with the Choir Director and Pastor/Head of Staff, to ensure a vibrant worship experience and

    overall ministry.

    Responsibilities and Duties

     Provide organ/piano accompaniment for all Sunday morning services and special services of

    the church such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, and Easter, as

    determined by the church’s governing council (the Session).

     Accompany the choir(s) at one mid-week rehearsal and Sunday morning.

     Work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Pastor and other staff to effectively provide

    for a vibrant worship experience and overall ministry.

     Provide organ/piano for weddings and funeral held at the church, as requested, and in

    consultation with the Pastor.

    Qualifications

     A person of Christian faith and practice.

     Knowledge of music theory and proficiency on the piano required.

     Knowledge of the instrument and keyboard ability sufficient to play hymns, liturgy, and

    anthem accompaniments by sight required.

     Bachelor of Music and/or Organ Performance preferred.

     Ability to work well with others.
