MSMVA Festivals and Activities

Honors Choirs auditions are held in October for high school singers and junior high/middle school duets (SA) and trios (SSA) / (TTB).

Chamber Choir and Pop & Vocal Jazz Festivals are non-adjudicated festivals.

District Solo & Ensemble Festivals are held in each District for soloists and small and large ensembles. Some Districts organize festivals for only JH/MS students.

State Solo & Ensemble Festivals are open to high school soloists or ensembles receiving a Division I rating at District Solo & Ensemble Festival.

District Choral Festivals are held in each district for choirs of 17 or more students who are enrolled in the class.

State Choral Festivals are offered to choirs receiving qualifying scores at District Choral Festival.

Michigan Youth Arts Festival

Solo & Ensemble Invitational Concerts participants are selected from State Solo & Ensemble Festivals and include:

    • 14 ensembles selected by adjudicators and the final listening panel
    • 12 soloists from grades 10 – 12 selected by adjudicators

Gala Concert Choral Performance is open to all high school choirs. A maximum of two choirs are chosen by blind audition.

Michigan Youth Arts Festival performers are required to pay a registration fee administered by the Festival.
