Honors Choirs

MSVMA offers rewarding opportunities to sing in honors choirs for grades 6-7-8-9 and high school students. To be considered for participation in an honors choir, students must audition. Those auditioning must be enrolled and in good standing in their school's vocal music program. Their school must be a member of MSVMA.

MSVMA is pleased to announce the selection of its Honors Choirs directors including:


Julie Rogers Davis - 6-7-8 SA

Kent Wattleworth - 7-8-9 TTB

Jessica Nieuwkoop - 7-8-9 SSA

Steven Lorenz - HS TTBB

Eric Reyes - HS SSAA

Erin Colwitz - HS SATB

Best wishes these gifted directors and their talented singers success as they enjoy and learn from Honors Choirs preparation and participation.

With the exception of the All-State Choir, all Honors Choir Directors are selected through the annual election process using the following criteria:

  •    Potential candidates must be MSVMA members and can be from any educational level.
  •    Potential candidates must have taught a minimum of seven years with two years at the same academic level.
  •    The choirs of potential candidates must have received a large proportion of Excellent final determinations at district or state festivals.
